On June 7, the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) released the latest forecast data on the semiconductor market: in 2022, the global semiconductor market is expected to grow by 16.3% and continue to grow by 5.1% in 2023. In 2023, the logic chip market is expected to reach US$200 billion, accounting for approximately 30% of the total market size.
Following strong growth of 26.2% in 2021, WSTS expects the global semiconductor market to achieve double-digit growth again in 2022, which is expected to reach US$646 billion, an increase of 16.3%.
WSTS predicts that among the growth of mainstream chip products in 2022, logic chips are expected to grow by 20.8% year-on-year, analog chips are expected to grow by 19.2% year-on-year, and memory chips are expected to grow by 18.7% year-on-year. Optoelectronics is expected to be roughly flat year over year (+0.3%).
From a regional perspective, it is expected that various regions around the world will experience varying degrees of growth. The Asia-Pacific region is expected to grow by 13.9%. The Americas are expected to grow by 22.6%, Europe by 20.8%, and Japan by 12.6%.
